Holy Granoly!

What is quick, easy to make, and good for you?

This isn’t a trick question. It’s Granola! It’s the ultimate quick snack, and completely CUSTOMIZABLE. Granola is a great breakfast food or snack that can be used as a source of micronutrients and fiber! All you have to do is start with a base of oats and nuts, and some sort of sweetener like honey, agave or a little bit of brown sugar to help bond the oats together.

Like I said, it’s totally customizable!

You can add a variety of other ingredients like fruits (dried or fresh), seeds, coconut, etc. The ingredients you pick for your personalized granola, will determine the health benefits it provides. For example, if you add any kind of nuts, flax seeds or chia seeds, you would have a granola that has a rich source of healthy fats, antioxidants and fiber. If you add any fresh fruit, like I do, you would also get your vitamin C and other minerals that your body needs for a strong immune system!

If you want to try mine, here’s what you will need:

-3 cups oats
-1.5 cup raisins
-1 apple
-2 TBSP peanut butter
-sprinkle of cinnamon
-and a drizzle of honey

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350.

  2. Meanwhile, put your oats, raisins, chopped apple, peanut butter, cinnamon, and honey all in a medium sized bowl and mix together until you have an even blend of all of the ingredients.

  3. Set the mixture aside and grab a 9x9 or any square baking pan. Line the pan with parchment paper, and add the mixture to the pan.

  4. Pop the pan in the oven for 20-30 minutes or until the mixture is golden brown.

  5. Once the granola is done baking, break it up a little bit so you get that loose cereal kind of texture.

  6. Enjoy!
